Senior Project Management, Design, Construction and Commercial Management
Wokingham Station was undertaken as part of the Nationwide Rail: Spencer Alliance. The project involved the construction of a new station building together with the reconfiguration of the adjacent roads and car parks, including associated groundworks, retaining wall construction and surfacing.
As an Alliance Partner, Nationwide Rail delivered the construction works, from enabling works through to completion. The project was complicated with the requirement to keep the old station building open until the new station was built, as well as constructing an adoptable road through the centre of the site yet maintaining as many car park spaces for the TOC throughout the project. This resulted in the works being programmed with 16 phases of construction. The new station building features a 10m high glass ticket hall with retail areas and has been a major facelift to replace the concrete modular single storey ticket office that was originally in place.
